Ecosign completes Inventory & Balance Analysis

On July 24th, 2008, nearly 500 people attended the public presentation of Ecosign Mountain Resort Planners’ Mountain Village inventory and analysis. Nearly 100 people attended personally, with another 400-plus watching the presentation online.

During the presentation, Paul Mathews, president of Ecosign, said his company's research and initial findings will advance the Town of Mountain Village’s community planning effort by nearly a year. “The data we’ve already collected has been shared with the town, and we know that with this information, Mountain Village has the opportunity to be ranked within the top three to five mountain resorts in the United States.”

Mathews named shopping, dining and people watching as the key elements for a successful village core. These exist to a limited extent in Mountain Village, but ultimately more visitors to the community are necessary for its success, and things like festivals and sports activities would be ways to get more people into town. The presentation discussed the current capabilities of Mountain Village, covering the main topics of accommodations, parking and the village core. Economic Research Associates presented alongside Ecosign, offering details about initial commercial studies recently begun by the firm. Some thoughts put forward included relocating the gondola terminal in the village core and adding retail arcades to building façades.

For those watching online, the event was webcast by TMVOA with real-time video and PowerPoint presentation, as well as a chat room to enter questions users wanted to ask the presenters. This webcast service will be used for future TMVOA board meetings and other public forums.
