TMVOA and Mountainfilm Bring Two Free Outdoor Movie Screenings to Mountain Village in August!
We are thrilled to announce annother great addition to our summer events schedule. For the first time, TMVOA has partnered with Mountainfilm to bring two FREE outdoor screenings to the Mountain Village in August.
We will screen a selection of 2008’s Mountainfilm Festival favorites on Thursday, Aug.21st and Friday, Aug. 22, starting at nightfall (approximately 8:30pm). The shows will be held at the Summer Concert Series stage and will run approximately 90 minutes each.
The first screening was initially scheduled for Aug. 7, but due to inclement weather, the screenings have been rescheduled for Aug. 21 and Aug. 22.
Screenings scheduled for August 21:
“The King of Telluride” – Made by local filmmakers Isabel Marlen and Raphael Berrios, the film tells the unlikely but true story of Telluride’s very own irrepressible Bradley Jones.
“The Last Frontier” – A short homage to stunning natural beauty, prolific biodiversity and venerable ancient customs by way of a kayak first descent film.
“Asiemut” -- An epic, unsupported, bike trek from Mongolia, through China, Tibet and Nepal to the mouth of the Ganges in India by a young French Canadian couple who chose to live their dream. Scheduled screenings on August 22
“Presence: 40 Days in Greenland” -- A lyrical film about a completely self-propelled Japanese ski expedition.
“Shikashika” -- Offers a cool glimpse of a sweet tradition from a land where culture has not yet been crippled by expectations of constant convenience.
“Red Gold” – Made by local filmmakers Ben Knight and Travis Rummel, winner of both the 2008 Mountainfilm Audience and Festival Director’s awards. The film is a compelling portrait of a unique way of life at the headwaters of the two largest salmon runs on earth that is threatened by a proposed mega-mine.
